Cricket Festival Community Day
This summer, Cricademia hosted its Community Day—an event designed to bring cricket to life for children across Leeds. Proudly supported by Vimto, the day welcomed 64 children under the age of 9 to experience the sport in a vibrant, inclusive setting. From energetic drills to friendly matches, the pitch was alive with excitement and enthusiasm.

Community Day Highlights
Youth Cricket Engagement: Highlights from the Day
A total of 64 children under the age of 9 participated in a structured cricket session aimed at introducing foundational skills and fostering team spirit. The event featured a series of age-appropriate drills, including batting technique, catching practice, and movement exercises, followed by informal matches to encourage collaboration and enjoyment. The environment was designed to be inclusive and supportive, helping each child build confidence, develop coordination, and experience the social benefits of sport in a safe and welcoming setting.
Talent Identification and Inclusive Development
During the event, our coaching team conducted informal assessments to identify emerging potential among participants. Out of the group, 9 children demonstrated notable aptitude, concentration, and eagerness to improve. These individuals have been invited to participate in Phase 2 trials for the Winter Development Program, where they will receive personalized coaching and mentorship aimed at advancing their technical and tactical skills.
Importantly, the Community Program remains inclusive and supportive of all children who show enthusiasm for cricket. Whether pursuing high-performance pathways or engaging for personal enjoyment, every participant is encouraged to grow within a structured and welcoming environment that values both development and long-term engagement with the sport.
Partner Contributions and Community Collaboration
The success of Community Day was supported by key partners including Mojo, Din Academy, Junior Sports Hub, and Raz from YCB. Their active involvement and ongoing commitment to the Cricademia mission played a vital role in delivering a cohesive and purposeful event. Their collaboration helped foster a strong sense of community engagement and laid the groundwork for future initiatives.
Fundraising and Program Launch
The onsite tuck shop, featuring snacks from Cricademia and canned drinks generously donated by Vimto, served as both a refreshment point and a fundraising initiative. Proceeds from the shop will be allocated directly to expanding outreach efforts and enhancing available resources for young participants.
In addition, Mojo’s food van, supported by Cricademia’s funding, provided a well-earned lunch for the young athletes who took part in the day’s competition. This thoughtful gesture ensured that every child was recognised for their effort and contribution. Mojo also generously offered their catering services at a discounted rate for the cricket festival, further demonstrating their commitment to community sport and youth development.
With the Cricademia Community Program now officially launched, the focus shifts to sustained growth, deeper community connections, and ensuring that every child in Leeds has access to meaningful opportunities through cricket.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who played a role in making Community Day a truly memorable occasion. From partners and volunteers to families and young athletes, your energy and support brought the event to life. This is just the beginning of an exciting journey—one that promises continued growth, deeper connections, and lasting impact through cricket. Together, we’re building something special.
